Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk

Essential Job Functions:

1. Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers as a Cashier/Checker.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages, working honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
9. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or issues.
11. Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
12. Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products.
13. Follow all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
15. Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
