Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders and adhering to company policies.
- Adhere to cash handling limits and work to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies and follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and adhere to food safety regulations.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and report issues.
- Maintain equipment and report repairs needed.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.
- Follow all relevant laws and company guidelines.
- Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience
- Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
