Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handle various tenders, and follow company policies.
4. Adhere to cash handling limits and work honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with ads and promotions.
9. Adhere to food safety and safety procedures, report unsafe conditions.
10. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs.
11. Create a welcoming environment for customers.
12. Comply with all laws and company guidelines.
13. Work effectively in a high-paced, stressful environment.
14. Manage conflicts professionally.
15. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
16. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
17. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
18. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
