Key Responsibilities
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at checkout lanes.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders like cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures in accordance with company policy.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages/overages and work honestly to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs.
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow policies regarding postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions, including seasonal and special ads.
  • Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or incidents, and notify management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with questions about products throughout the store.
  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues effectively.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
  • Perform all essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
