Cashier Responsibilities
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages or overages and work to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Handle postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons according to established policies.
  • Stay updated on current and upcoming advertisements.
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Support safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and report repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products throughout the store.
  • Follow all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  • Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Assist and support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
