Responsibilities:
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons, following company policy.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages and overages, and work honestly to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and providing assistance.
  • Comply with all relevant laws and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
