Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Cash Posting/Remittance Specialist to review and post insurance remittances, patient payments, and adjustments.

You will work in the PFS area, ensuring accurate posting and timely reconciliation using EPIC and the practice management system. Responsibilities include daily payment application, bank and EFT reconciliation, and preparing journal entries for patient accounts receivable, while maintaining high accuracy and customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 2–3 years related experience.
• Solid knowledge of Excel, including linking and formulas.
• Math and accounting experience preferred.
• Ability to enter high volumes of data rapidly and accurately.
• Bank reconciliation experience required.
• Experience with electronic remittance advice software preferred.
• EPIC experience a must.
• Knowledge of physician billing workflow, third party payer procedures, governmental regulations and managed care contracting to respond to inquiries on patient accounts.

Responsibilities

• Applies payments received daily to the appropriate patient accounts.
• Process daily reconciliation of lock box, EFTs, and card postings in practice management system.
• Transfers or credits to the appropriate Children Memorial Hospital entities.
• Reconciles Blue Cross Experience Report.
• Prepares journal entries with documentation for all patient accounts receivable.
• Corrects any erroneously posted contractual adjustments and posts them after payment.
• Verifies and applies credit card transactions; reconciles monthly statements.
• Reconciles bank statements daily.
• Processes all checks returned as unpayable due to insufficient funds.
• Other duties as assigned.
