Job description

The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for accurately processing and recording incoming payments in a timely manner. This role ensures that all cash receipts are applied to customer accounts and invoices, minimizing unapplied cash and ensuring an efficient collection process. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, is proficient in accounting software, and has excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cash Posting: Apply all payments (wire transfers, ACH, checks, credit cards) to customer accounts accurately and promptly.
2. Payment Reconciliation: Reconcile daily cash receipts with bank statements and accounting systems.
3. Research & Resolution: Investigate and resolve unapplied cash, discrepancies, and misapplied payments.
4. Customer Communication: Coordinate with customers to gather payment information and resolve issues related to missing or misapplied payments.
5. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline cash application processes and improve overall accuracy.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with accounts receivable, collections, and finance teams to ensure accurate customer account balances.
7. Reporting: Generate and review reports on unapplied cash, account reconciliations, and payment activity for management.
8. Compliance: Ensure all cash applications comply with company policies and relevant financial regulations.
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all payment transactions and updates to customer accounts.
