Cash Application Specialist - INDEPENDENCE, OH (ON-SITE)

Schedule: 8am-5pm; M-F

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to join our esteemed Accounts Receivable team. This role is integral to ensuring the precise and prompt processing of payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and resolving discrepancies efficiently.

Responsibilities:

1. Process payments received through various methods including checks, electronic transfers, credit card payments, and cash.
2. Review payment information such as remittance advice or payment reference numbers to accurately match payments with the correct customer and invoice.
3. Apply payments to the appropriate outstanding invoices or accounts to update customer balances and reflect accurate financial records in the accounting system.
4. Ensure that all payments are correctly recorded and reconcile them with bank statements and the company’s accounting records.
5. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies, such as short payments or missing details, which may involve contacting customers or further investigation.

Position Qualifications:

1. Proven experience in an accounts receivable or cash application role, preferably in material handling industry or similar.
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing payments and reconciling accounts.
3. Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
4. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle discrepancies with professionalism.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

• 2+ years of Accounts Receivable or Cash Application experience required.
