Job summary

Graybar Electric Company, Inc. is seeking a Cash Application Specialist to support financial management by ensuring payments are correctly applied to customer accounts.

The role involves processing payment exceptions, applying credit card payments, posting AR entries, and handling refunds within SAP and High Radius. The candidate should have 1 year of Cash Applications experience, a 4-year degree, knowledge of SAP, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in Cash Applications.
  • 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing or Business Administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of debits and credits as related to Cash Application and Accounts Receivable.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily payment exceptions in SAP and High Radius Accounts Receivable system.
  • Apply non-PO customer credit card payments accurately per customer specifications.
  • Review and post Accounts Receivable journal entries.
  • Issue customer refunds as submitted by financial personnel.
  • Review and post miscellaneous customer account application requests via SAP workflow system.

Job description

Make a difference. As a Cash Application Specialist, you will assist financial management in safeguarding Company assets by following proper accounting procedures that ensure payments are accurately and properly applied to customer accounts.

In this role you will
  • Process daily payment exceptions in both SAP and High Radius Accounts Receivable system
  • Apply Non-Point Of Sale customer credit card payments accurately and according to customer specifications
  • Review and accurately post Accounts Receivable journal entries
  • Issue customer refunds as submitted by financial personnel
  • Review and correctly apply all miscellaneous customer account application requests received via the SAP workflow system, ensuring compliance with appropriate General Instructions
  • Review and post rejections from Biller Direct customer payments in High Radius
  • Monitor internal customer requests email que
  • Research, respond and/or upscale requests as needed
  • Clear vendor product certificates against posted customer deductions
  • Clear customer account postings for Tax on Cash Discount as directed
  • Complete daily reconciliation of District lockboxes in SAP as needed
  • Identify improvement opportunities and assist in implementing improvements
What you bring to the table
  • 1 year experience in Cash Applications
  • 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing or Business Administration preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of debits and credits as related to Cash Application and Accounts Receivable
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work independently or as a member of a team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, effectively prioritize and manage workflow, and meet deadlines under conditions of fluctuating workload
  • Ability to deal with confidential information, including internal data, external data, and communications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely via phone, email and in person
  • Ability to assess a problem and promptly resolve it or highlight or update as needed
Shift and Hours

Monday - Friday; 7 am to 4 pm.

Compensation Details

The expected rate of pay for this position is $20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
