Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System is seeking a Caseworker in the MANG Unit at Stroger Hospital to conduct comprehensive interviews and screenings to identify programs that help patients access medical assistance. You will assist with Medicaid, Medicare, and other payments, gathering financial data to determine eligibility and arrange appropriate coverage.

The role requires strong interview skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 4 years of work experience in hospital finance/revenue cycle operations or a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in hospital finance/revenue cycle operations.
• Official transcripts and/or high school diploma must be presented at time of interview.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and/or representatives to obtain demographic and financial information for quality applications.
• Provide document forms and explain IDHS policies and procedures.
• Verify patient demographics during screening for accuracy in hospital data.
• Maintain patient logs for daily productivity reports and route case folders for billing and collection.
• Update hospital information system with appropriate documents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
