Job summary

The County Caseworker 2 position within the Northumberland County Behavioral Health & Intellectual/Developmental Services Program offers a path to help individuals achieve greater independence. You will guide clients in accessing resources, building life skills, and staying connected to essential programs.

You will develop individualized service plans, assist with benefits, monitor providers, maintain care documentation, coordinate progress, and respond to crises as part of a full-time schedule

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as County Caseworker 1 or successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program or a relevant bachelor’s degree.
• A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major or a bachelor’s degree with specified social sciences credits and one year of professional social casework experience.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in relevant social sciences.
• Applicants will be considered to have met educational requirements if within two months of graduating.

Responsibilities

• Plan Development: Prepare individualized service plans outlining goals and supports across life areas.
• Benefit Assistance: Guide individuals through applications for financial and medical benefits.
• Provider Monitoring: Review residential and day program services to ensure supports are delivered.
• Care Documentation: Maintain thorough records supporting care, life planning, and advocacy.
• Progress Coordination: Lead meetings to evaluate progress toward goals.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergency situations as assigned by supervisory staff.

Education

Bachelor's degree in social work or related field

Bachelor's degree with 12 college credits in sociology/social welfare/psychology/gerontology/criminal justice or related social sciences

Six months of experience as County Caseworker 1

Any equivalent combination of experience and training with 12 college credits in related social sciences
