Job summary

Church World Service in Houston, TX seeks a Case Manager to provide comprehensive employment-focused case management for newcomers, guiding them to self-sufficiency through tailored support and access to essential resources.

You will connect clients to job opportunities, assist with resumes and applications, and coordinate services to help achieve stability in a multi-cultural setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-4 years’ experience working with refugees or immigrants, and prior case management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and internet applications; computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll eligible clients into the program and provide orientation and ongoing case management.
  • Develop and maintain employment solutions for refugees and ORR-eligible clients.
  • Assess employability and assist with employment service plans, resumes, and applications.
  • Identify barriers to employment and connect clients with ESL, transportation, immigration, and childcare services.
  • Coordinate interviews and advocate for clients with employers; ensure timely data entry and reporting.

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive case management services that empower newcomers to successfully integrate into their communities. By delivering individualized support, connecting clients to essential resources, andfacilitatingaccess to higher levels of care when needed, the Case Manager plays a critical role in helping refugees achieve stability and long-term self-sufficiency.


Responsibilities


  • Enroll eligible clients into the program and provide orientation and on-going case management services throughout the program service period

  • Develop, create, and maintain employment solutions for refugees and other ORR-eligible clients

  • Assess clients’ employability and assist with development, formulation and implementation of employment service plan, resumes and job applications

  • Work with clients to remove barriers to employment and realize the goal of family self-sufficiency. Identify support services that may assist clients in becoming self-sufficient, such as ESL, transportation, immigration services, and childcare.

  • Identify job opportunities, assist with application completion, coordinate interviews, advocate for clients and follow-up with employers

  • Manage ORR-eligible cases, ensuring timely delivery of services and fulfillment of requirements outlined in the RSS Providers Manual.

  • Complete all case notes and program documentation, ensures accuracy and compliance within program guidelines and confirms timely delivery of services

  • Ensure timely data entry into agency and state funder databases

  • Provides safe, timely, and supervised transport for clients to off-site appointments or activities as needed

  • Provide or organize on-the-job interpretation services as needed

  • Communicates, coordinates and promotes program within the community and partners.

  • Respond promptly to employer requests and inquiries

  • Serve as a local representative during presentations and meetings with external community resources

  • Identify new referral resources that will facilitate and assist client in self-sufficiency

  • Serve as an advocate for clients.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.



  • 3-4years’ experience working with refugees or immigrants, andprevious employment case management experience.


Other Skills:



  • Strongly preferred that candidates are bilingual in English and a refugee language.



  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, withproficiencyin MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and internet applications.



  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills arerequired.



  • Excellent communication skills are essential, including an ability to communicate in a trauma-informed, positive, caring, and professional manner,demonstratingrespect and empathy.



  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environmentrequired.



  • Commitment and willingness to support CWS’ Platform on Racial Justice as a CWS employeerequired.
