Job summary

The HRA/Department of Social Services in New York City is seeking an Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist II to supervise BOS personnel and oversee the eligibility determination process for public assistance, food, Medicaid, and related services. You will coordinate with the Benefits Access centers to ensure timely service delivery and accurate case management.

Qualifications

Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of relevant social/human services experience.
Bachelor's degree plus 18 months of experience as Benefits Opportunity Specialist or related role.
60 credits may substitute for 9 months of experience; applicants must have 18 months of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise BOS workers and monitor workflow of the application process.
Review cases and authorize benefits as required.
Review reports and work lists for accuracy and timeliness.
Liaise with the Rental Assistance Unit and other teams.
Conduct daily sweeps to ensure timely and proper service.
Guide teams delivering services for immediate needs and public assistance eligibility.
Oversee case management from intake to ongoing eligibility and employment plans.
Prepare regular performance and outcome reports and coordinate corrective actions.
