Clinical Nursing
As an RN (Registered Nurse) - Case Managementat UNC Health Appalachian, you’ll play an essential role in coordinating patient care, promoting patient safety, and ensuring the appropriate use of healthcare resources. You’ll review admissions and continued stays, collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and help patients and families navigate their care with compassion and respect.

Compensation:Starting at $34.00/hour or more, based on education, experience, certification, and internal equity
Schedule:Full-time, non-exempt position; may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Coordinate patient care by reviewing admissions and continued stays for clinical appropriateness
Assess effective resource utilization while promoting quality, safety, and positive patient outcomes
Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated care
Monitor patient outcomes and help identify and resolve barriers to effective care
Promote ethical decision-making and maintain a patient-centered approach to care
Support problem aversion and contribute to a top-decile patient experience, quality, and safety
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families throughout the care process
Support coworkers, patients, and visitors by providing assistance within the scope of practice
Promote the mission, vision, and values of UNC Health Appalachian
Maintain professional nursing standards and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
Graduate of a nursing program - ADN required; BSN preferred
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina
Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience preferred
Previous Utilization Review or Quality Management experience preferred
Certification from the American Case Management Association preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members
Demonstrated ability to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care
Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to compassionate patient care
Knowledge of the continuum of nursing care within the patient care department
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and disciplines
Commitment to ethical nursing practice, patient safety, and organizational values
Ability to lift, position, push, pull, and/or transfer up to and greater than 50 pounds
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking
Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and turning
Ability to perform repetitive motions and mobility-related tasks
Near visual acuity, including the ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other risks associated with patient care
Frequent exposure to hazardous materials, equipment, and clinical environments
May be subject to irregular hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
