Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking a Case Assistant for the Product Liability, Mass Torts, & Class Actions practice in Short Hills. The role supports paralegals and attorneys by managing case files, preparing documents for production, and maintaining databases and filings.

The position requires basic Word/Excel/Outlook proficiency and office experience in a law firm. Strong communication, organization, and the ability to handle multiple tasks under deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated basic level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and database experience.
• Office experience in a law firm environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis.
• Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills necessary to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc.
• Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Organizes document productions for attorney review.
• Researches public records using public websites.
• Gathers cases and exhibits from files for incorporation into briefs.
• Assists with preparing a variety of documents, forms, charts, letters, etc.
• Prepares binders, makes copies, enters data and maintains files.
• Performs database research and data entry.
• Obtains documents and other information from cities, municipalities or public agencies.
• Obtains information from accounting, timekeeping and attorneys for audit letter responses.
• Assists paralegals, attorneys, and business professionals with mailings and filings.
• Other duties as assigned.
