Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a Child & Family Services Case Aid for the Cedar Rapids Service Area, based out of Wapello County HHS in Ottumwa, IA. The role supports social workers and families after initial assessments, helping navigate challenges and build safer futures.

You will coordinate services, monitor progress, support permanency planning, and advocate for families in collaboration with providers and legal partners. Telework may be available after probation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Social Work or related field (or equivalent).
• Experience substituting education with full-time social work experience.
• Knowledge of confidentiality and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist with facilitating interactions between children and their parents.
• Supervise interactions as directed by the case manager.
• Transport children/parents to appointments for services.
• Support placements to increase stability and resolve barriers.
• Meet families and help resolve issues quickly.
• Assist Family Finding to locate relatives for placement.
• Assist with auditing cases to ensure complete information.
• Assist with other casework and maintain confidentiality.
