Job summary

Current is seeking a Client Advisory Services Senior in Charlotte to lead outsourced accounting for privately held clients. You will manage month-end closes, craft GAAP financials, and mentor junior staff while partnering closely with clients to deliver strategic accounting solutions.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of external client-facing work, strong Excel and QuickBooks experience, CPA eligibility, and a drive to grow with a collaborative public accounting team in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant external client-facing experience.
• Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
• Attention to detail with high accuracy and ability to meet monthly deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and escalate issues to partners/managers when needed.
• Strong judgment and client-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide outsourced accounting and controllership services to clients.
• Oversee month-end close and financial reporting; review GL reconciliations.
• Prepare/review fixed asset, prepaid, and accrual schedules.
• Lead client onboarding, develop financial reports, and set initial COA.
• Train, mentor, and guide CAS staff and interns.
• Coordinate service deliverables with client managers across accounting, attest, and tax.

Join a growing Charlotte-based CPA firm as a Client Advisory Services (CAS) Senior, where you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to privately held small- and mid-sized businesses. In this role, you’ll provide outsourced accounting and controllership services, oversee month-end close and financial reporting, mentor junior staff, and partner directly with clients to deliver strategic accounting solutions. Responsibilities

• Client Accounting Services (“CAS”), which encompasses quarterly or monthly outsourced controllership and consulting to clients’ accounting staff or office managers.

• Oversee and review all general ledger reconciliations and prepare/review client journal entries.

• Prepare/review fixed asset registers.

• Prepare/review prepaid and accrual schedules.

• Prepare/review the month-end close process.

• Prepare/review and troubleshoot any issues with bank and credit card reconciliations.

• Prepare/review schedules for external auditor requests.

• Prepare compiled GAAP and Income tax basis financial statements.

• Train, mentor, and guide CAS staff and interns.

• Lead the client on-boarding process, including developing financial reports, chart of accounts, and initial revisions.

• Analyze financial results and make recommendations to client management.

• Reconcile, review and post monthly payroll entries.

• Prepare/review annual 1099 forms and annual/quarterly payroll tax returns.

• Prepare/review business personal property tax returns.

• Prepare income tax returns for small businesses and their owners.

• Work as a team with the client manager to coordinate multiple service deliverables and setting timelines for the accounting, attest, and tax compliance as a holistic service provider.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant experience, specifically external client-facing services.

• Intermediate to Advanced skills with Excel (including pivot and VLOOKUP).

• Experience with various versions of QuickBooks Desktop and Online.

• Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.

• Ability to prioritize effectively and meet tight monthly deadlines.

• Strong judgment skills and ability to know when to elevate an issue to the partner or manager on a client account.

Preferred

• Licensed CPA or eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

• Experience with business clients $1-$15+ million in revenue.

• Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax requirements.

• Industry knowledge for construction/contractors, real estate, and/or professional services.

• Prior experience in training and technical review of staff work.

• Motivated to be an advisor to a variety of business clients with varying skill levels.
