Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join Safety Monitoring within the North American Surface Transportation Safety & Compliance team. The role focuses on evaluating carrier safety performance against Amazon standards using FMCSA SMS data and VRMs, with duties spanning monthly data pulls, verification, and reporting.

The analyst may support 3P carrier monitoring or TOM fleet monitoring and will follow established procedures and thresholds to drive enforcement or safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 2+ years of professional or military experience.
• Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required.
• Experience analyzing data in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.
• Knowledge of SQL.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, the CSA program and BASICs, or roadside inspection and out-of-service criteria.
• Experience supporting a motor carrier or fleet DOT safety program.
• Experience working cases in a ticketing or case management system.
• Experience writing to external business partners in a regulated setting.
• Experience checking data across more than one system before acting on it.
• 1+ years of working with computers and Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
• High school or equivalent.
• Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required.
• Are 18 years of age or older.
• Experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement.
• Experience with end-to-end project management.

Responsibilities

• Pull safety data from FMCSA SMS and internal sources on the monthly schedule.
• Validate records against source data before anything goes out. Reconcile the counts, spot-check individual records, and document what you checked.
• Keep SIM and Asana updated together so the current status of every case lives in one place.
• Prepare recurring metrics for business reviews, such as suspension and reinstatement counts, exception outcomes, inspection results, and cycle timeliness.
• Keep procedure documents current and recommend process improvements.
• Escalate data discrepancies, new types of cases, and anything with possible legal exposure.
• Prepare the monthly BASICs and VRM suspension and reinstatement lists against the written thresholds.
• Log carrier exception requests, build each case file against the written criteria, and present cases at the weekly exception review.
• Record every review decision as granted, denied, or pending final review.
• Submit suspension and reinstatement tickets to Carrier Health and confirm they were actioned.
• Send carrier notifications from approved templates after a decision is recorded.
• Monitor carriers under review each week for new violations, out-of-service events, and safety rating changes.
• Run the same monitoring steps for Amazon's own fleet.
• Track roadside inspection results, out-of-service events, violations, and BASIC results for TOM.
• Report trends and open items to TOM safety and operations leaders on a set schedule.
• Flag changes that need attention, such as a rising violation rate or a new out-of-service event, to your manager and TOM safety leaders.
