Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) to support the Division State Highway Administrator’s shop operations. You will assist in procurement, help supervise shop staff, and ensure safety standards on the shop floor while supervising in the absence of the lead supervisor.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED with two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of progressive experience in the trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of maintenance and construction skills and woodworking.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects and operate shop tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist in procurement of parts and lumber and ensure safety standards on the shop floor.
• Create equipment repair work orders and process timecards.
• Post hours worked in SAP and maintain accurate records.
• Act as supervisor in absence of Maintenance/Construction Supervisor III.
