Job summary

Ching Construction in Honolulu, HI is seeking an Apprentice Carpenter to support experienced carpenters on residential and commercial projects. This full-time, on-site role offers hands-on learning in measuring, cutting, framing, and finish work under supervision.

Qualifications

• Foundational carpentry skills and a strong interest in developing trade expertise in Carpentry and Framing.
• Ability to safely use and maintain Hand Tools such as hammers, measuring tapes, levels, and saws.
• Basic experience or willingness to be trained in Power Tools, including drills, circular saws, and nail guns.
• Attention to detail and care for Finish Carpentry tasks such as trim, molding, and interior woodwork.
• Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and ability to follow directions from supervisors.
• Commitment to job-site safety, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
• Physical ability to lift materials of 50 lbs or less, stand for extended periods, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior construction or carpentry experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain job sites, using hand and power tools under supervision.
• Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling wood components for framing, structural parts, and finish work.
• Support installation of doors, windows, trim, and cabinetry and help ensure quality and safety standards.
• Follow leadership instructions and construction plans and assist with material organization.
• Learn trade techniques and building codes through on-the-job instruction.
