Job description

Carpenters required all throughout the Marlborough region!

OneStaff is currently seeking experienced Carpenters. You will need to be reliable and motivated. Flexibility with work locations is preferred, as you may be asked to work across the country to assist with various projects. Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  2. Following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  3. Measuring and marking cutting lines on materials using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges.
  4. Installing structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand or power tools.
  5. Verifying the trueness of structures using tools like a plumb bob and level.
  6. Building or repairing cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
  7. Selecting and ordering lumber or other required materials.
  8. Assembling and fastening materials to create frameworks or props using hand tools, wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  9. Removing damaged or defective parts of structures and repairing or replacing them.
  10. Maintaining records, documenting actions, and providing written progress reports.
  11. Inspecting ceiling or floor tiles, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork for damage.
  12. Erecting scaffolding or ladders for above-ground construction.
  13. Finishing surfaces of woodwork or wallboard using paint, hand tools, or paneling.
  14. Studying drawings and creating forming shutters for concrete work.
  15. Creating structures, forms, or chutes for pouring concrete in large jobs.
  16. Arranging for subcontractors for specialized work like heating or electrical wiring.
  17. Covering sub-floors with building paper and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip floors.
  18. Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches.
  19. Applying decorative or soundproofing panels to ceilings or walls.
  20. Preparing cost estimates for clients or employers.
  21. Working with or removing hazardous materials.
  22. Performing minor plumbing, welding, sandblasting, or water blasting work.
  23. All other duties as assigned.

Pay conditions: Minimum $30.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on experience.

Hours of work: Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of 2.5 years of relevant carpentry experience or a relevant qualification.
  • Friendly demeanor, good time management, and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work in various locations across New Zealand.
  • A commitment to learning and developing skills.
  • Adherence to health and safety practices on-site.
  • Reliable and hardworking.

Location: Multiple locations across New Zealand, including Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.

This is a permanent, full-time role. Applicants must be NZ Citizens/Residents or hold a valid NZ work visa.
