Job Title: Carpenter Foreman

Job Is located in Southland, Texas

Job Description

This hands-on Carpenter Foreman role leads field crews on commercial new construction projects, including schools and multifamily buildings. You will wear tools daily, oversee carpenters and subcontractors, assist with layout and scheduling, and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on time. You will manage teams of approximately 5–10 people while using construction technology and blueprint reading skills to guide project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise carpenters and subcontractors on commercial new construction projects, including schools and multifamily buildings.
• Work as a hands-on foreman, consistently wearing tools and actively participating in daily construction tasks.
• Manage crews of approximately 5–10 team members, coordinating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality workmanship.
• Assist with project layout, including interpreting plans and establishing lines, grades, and dimensions for framing and concrete work.
• Support project scheduling by organizing daily activities, sequencing work, and aligning crew tasks with project timelines.
• Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce safe work practices and compliance with site safety requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to direct carpentry, framing, and concrete operations.
• Utilize Bluebeam or similar software to review drawings, mark up plans, and communicate changes or clarifications to the team.
• Oversee carpentry and framing activities, including structural framing, metal stud framing, drywall installation, and trim carpentry.
• Supervise concrete-related work such as concrete pours, concrete formwork, structural concrete, commercial foundations, elevator cores, and rebar placement.
• Ensure proper use of hand tools and equipment, and verify that tools and materials are available and maintained for daily operations.
• Coordinate with the Superintendent regarding project status, crew performance, material needs, and any field issues that arise.
• Open and close the job site each day, ensuring the site is secure, organized, and ready for work at the start and end of shifts.
• Promote a culture of safety, integrity, and accountability on the job site, addressing hazards and enforcing safety protocols.
• Occasionally operate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed to support field activities.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a working carpenter foreman on commercial construction projects.
• Strong carpentry skills, including framing, trim carpentry, and general construction carpentry.
• Hands-on experience with commercial construction, particularly new build projects such as schools and multifamily developments.
• Proficiency in layout for framing and concrete, including setting lines, grades, and dimensions from plans.
• Experience with concrete work, including concrete pours, concrete formwork, structural concrete, commercial foundations, elevator cores, and rebar installation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents accurately.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar construction plan review software.
• Experience with drywall and metal stud framing in commercial environments.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to lead toolbox talks and enforce safety procedures on site.
• Ability to manage and lead crews of 5–10 workers, providing clear direction and maintaining productivity.
• Competence in using hand tools and construction equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to occasionally operate forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts in a construction setting.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with the Superintendent, crew members, and subcontractors.
• Organizational skills to support scheduling, site opening and closing, and daily work planning.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certification from CITC or completion of a union apprenticeship program is preferred but not required.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience working on school construction projects or similar commercial new builds is a plus.
• Ability to foster a positive team environment and lead by example with high integrity.
• Comfort working extended hours, including 50–60 hour weeks, when required by project demands.
• Basic familiarity with construction site equipment and safe operating procedures for lifts and material handling.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address field issues quickly and effectively.

Work Environment

The role is based on new construction commercial job sites, primarily including school projects and similar large-scale builds. You will report to the Superintendent and spend most of your time working outdoors or in partially enclosed structures typical of active construction sites. The position requires opening and closing the project each day, with typical workweeks ranging from 50 to 60 hours, reflecting the pace and demands of commercial construction. You will regularly use standard construction tools and equipment, and may occasionally operate forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and professionalism, with a focus on maintaining organized, well-run job sites.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southlake, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
