Job summary

The Tepa Companies in Texas are seeking a skilled Carpenter to construct, install, and repair wood structures, following blueprints and building codes. Onsite presence is required at project sites in the Texas region.

Bring 5+ years of general construction experience, proficiency with hand and power tools, and a strong commitment to safety (OSHA). Ability to pass drug screen and background check; overtime and some weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and study blueprints, sketches or plans for material needs and dimensions
  • Select lumber or materials and prepare layouts with framing tools
  • Mark cutting lines, shape materials, and assemble with fasteners
  • Verify trueness with plumb bob and level; erect framing and subflooring
  • Build stairs, install partitions, finishes, trim, and hardware
  • Install window frames, doors, and weather stripping; install floors

Our benefits package includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision, generous paid time off and holidays, 401(k) plan with company match, life insurance, flexible spending and health savings account, mental health support and resources, short and long-term disability, and tuition reimbursement.LOCATION: This position will require onsite presence at one of our project sites in the Texas region.Pay range: $24.42 - $37.89 per hour + per diem for travelers 95+ miles from the job site.ABOUT THE JOBThe Tepa Companies are seeking a Carpenter to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes.Job functions:Reads and studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring.Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work.Covers subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.Applies shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, letter drops, and kick plates.Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.May weld metal parts to steel structural members.May specialize in finish carpentry, such as installing interior and exterior trim, building stairs, and laying hardwood floors.May erect frame buildings and perform general carpentry work in residential construction.May remove and replace sections of structures prior to and after installation of insulating materials.May perform carpentry work in construction of walk-in freezers and environmental test chambers.WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR5+ years of general construction experience, including exposure to carpentry, and/or concrete workSome experience operating equipment and hand toolsKnowledge of and ability to use power and hand tools, materials, and other equipment used on construction sitesKnowledge of safety practices and procedures specific to labor work, including OSHA standardsMust be able to pass a drug screen and back ground check in compliance with federal regulationAbility to work overtime and some weekends as requiredMust possess a valid driver’s licenseEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/DisabledSalary Range:$65,369.21 - $79,959.42
