Job summary

Auld & White Constructors in Jacksonville is seeking aspiring carpenters for a full-time apprenticeship. Apprentices will learn on construction projects while attending NEFBA classes twice weekly to complete the NCCER curriculum.

This is a four-year program beginning August 2027. Wages are competitive and benefits include full tuition coverage, safety bonuses, and transportation support within Northeast Florida.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Stable job history with reliable transportation.
• Good references.
• Willingness to learn NCCER curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, and shop drawings to learn materials and finish requirements.
• Assist with selecting lumber and materials under direction.
• Learn basic measuring techniques and use field measuring tools.
• Carry out instructions from lead carpenters and superintendent.
• Support superintendent/lead carpenter with tasks and safety.
• Ensure workplace safety and report hazards.
• Submit work process cards weekly to NEFBA.
• Attend Apprentice classes regularly.

Job description

Auld & Whiteislooking for aspiring carpenters to join our team of apprentices. Apprentices will work full-time for Auld & White Constructors on construction projects learning through hands on construction. While working full-time for AWC, apprentices also take night classes twice per week through The Northeast Florida Builder's Association (NEFBA), to learn construction via instructors teaching NCCER curriculum. This is a four year program, with classes starting in August of 2027.

Job Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, specifications, submittals and shop drawings for information on type of material required, such as lumber, concrete, rebar or wallboard, etc. Learn the dimensions of structures or items fabricated and the type of finish required.
• Select specified type of lumber or other materials under direction from craftspeople, lead carpenters and superintendent.
• Learn and use basic measuring tools used by the field craftspeople and identify various widths and lengths of lumber.
• Be able to carry out given instructions from craftspeople, lead carpenters and superintendent.
• Assist superintendent/lead carpenter with various carpentry tasks.
• Ensure workplace safety. Observe proper worksite safety procedures. Utilize tools and equipment in accordance with operating instructions/manuals. Report any safety hazards or potential hazards to supervisor. Notify super/lead of any safety concerns for employees or subcontractors.
• Turn signed work process cards in to NEFBA on a weekly basis.
• Attend Apprentice classes on a regular/timely basis.

Candidates should have the following:

• Driver's License
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Stable job history
• Good references
• Dependable to be at work and on time, and have a reliable means of transportation to jobs throughout Northeast Florida.
