Job summary

PCL Construction in Abilene, Texas is seeking skilled craft workers. Base pay ranges from $21.45 to $33.00 per hour, with a $10.00 incentive combined with the base rate. The schedule is 5x10’s, with opportunities for advancement and certifications within the company.

Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test and have 0 to 48+ months of craft-level experience. PCL offers a 401(k) and an Employee Assistance Program, plus pathways to NCCER certification and an Apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• 0 to 48+ verifiable craft-level work experience

Responsibilities

• Studies blueprint, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to materials and dimensions.
• Selects type and size of related materials according to job specs.
• Prepares lay out using ruler, framing square, and calipers.
• Marks cutting lines on materials and shapes materials to prescribed measurements.
• Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
• Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.
• Unload materials, assist in maintenance of laydown areas and project work areas.

Pay Rate:

$21.45 - $33.00 (based on experience)

Incentive Rate:

$10.00 (will be combined with base rate)

Job Responsibilities:

• Studies blueprint, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
• Selects type and size of related materials according to the job specifications.
• Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, or marking gauge.
• Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes.
• Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
• Ensure proper permits have been obtained and can read & understand all permits.
• Prioritize tasks according to job schedule and work sequence.
• Coordinate work with other crafts, co-workers, and other contractors on the job.
• Safely use Hand & Power Tools.
• Unload materials, inspect item as directed by the Journeyman, and to assist in the maintenance of the laydown areas and project work areas.
• Perform quality work as determined by your supervisor and project specifications.
• Help immediate supervisor with future tasks planning.
• Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.
