Job summary

PCL Construction is hiring a Concrete Finisher Apprentice for the Abilene project in Abilene, TX. The pay rate ranges from $21.45 to $33.00 per hour based on experience, with an additional $10 incentive combined with base pay.

Schedule features 5x10 shifts and potential for advancement within the company. Pre-employment drug testing applies; candidates should be prepared to read blueprints, assist with forming, rebar, and layout tasks, and work safely around rotating equipment and heavy

• Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.
• 0 to 48+ verifiable work experience within craft level.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics for work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Practice safe work habits and promote safety to others.
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Inspect bracing and shoring of concrete forms for stability.
• Study plans to determine material types and quantities (mixes, curing compounds, sealants).
• Prioritize tasks according to the job schedule and sequence.
• Assist in industrial carpentry, reinforcing iron and rebar, and site layout as needed.
• Safely use hand and power tools.
• Unload materials and support laydown areas and project work areas.

Pay Rate:$21.45 - $33.00 (based on experience)

Incentive Rate:$10.00 (will be combined with base rate)

Work Schedule:5x10’s (subject to change)

Job Responsibilities

• Practice safe work habits at all times and promote safety to others.
• Proficient working knowledge of and experience working with rotating equipment.
• Assist immediate supervisor with future tasks to be completed.
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Selects type and size of related materials according to the job specifications.
• Inspects bracing and shoring of concrete forms ensuring stability before and during pouring.
• Studies blueprint, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to the type of material required such as various mixes, admixtures, curing compounds, grouts, and sealants commonly used on an industrial site.
• Ensure proper permits have been obtained and can read & understand all permits.
• Prioritize tasks according to job schedule and work sequence.
• Assist in industrial carpentry, reinforcing iron and rebar, and site layout as needed.
• Safely use Hand & Power Tools.
• Unload materials, inspect item as directed by the Journeyman, and to assist in the maintenance of the laydown areas and project work areas.
