Job summary

Menzies Aviation in Romulus, MI is hiring for a Warehouse Associate to reads and process freight, operate forklift, and move items to storage areas. The role requires attention to safety, ability to lift up to 70 lbs, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

You'll support cargo build-up/breakdowns, maintain accurate records, and comply with security and pre-employment checks. Prior customer service is a plus; forklift certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass drug testing.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Driver license with no violations in past 5 years.
• Forklift certification preferred but not required.
• Able to speak, read and write in English proficiently.
• Lift up to 70 lbs.
• Flexible to work weekends and holidays; previous customer service experience is a plus.
• Must pass all pre-employment testing including drug testing.
• Able to obtain and maintain Airport and Customs badges/seals.

Responsibilities

• Reads Airway bills, bills of lading, or freight manifest to determine items to move.
• Conveys freight from receiving areas to storage or other areas with forklift or transporter.
• Sorts and places materials on racks or bins by destination or consignee.
• Sorts and stores dangerous goods in proper area.
• Fills requisitions or work orders and distributes items to other locations.
• Opens containers for breakdown; records counts; weighs and counts items for distribution.
• Performs cargo build-up and breakdowns to/from skid, pallets or ULDs.
• Keeps work areas clean and hazard-free; follows PPE and safety policies.
• Ensures compliance with security procedures and company rules.

Receives, stores and distributes freight within established guidelines by performing the following duties.

What You Will Be Doing

• Reads Airway bills, bills of landing, or freight manifest to determine the items to be moved, gathered or distributed.
• Conveys freight from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas with forklift or transporter.
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as consignee or destination.
• Sorts and stores all dangerous goods in proper area
• Fill requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distribute items to other locations.
• Open bales, crates, and other containers for breakdown. Records count of items received or distributed. Weighs and counts items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards and air waybill.
• Performs cargo build-up and/or breakdowns, freight to and/or from skid, pallets or ULDs.
• Ensures that work areas are clean and hazard free of loose nets, straps, etc.
• Must practice all Company's Safety Policy inclusive of, but not limited to wearing PPE, equipment operation, safe lifting procedures or obeying speed limits when driving company vehicles and equipment.
• Must follow all Security procedures as required.
• Other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

• Must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass Drug testing.
• Must have High School diploma or GED.
• Must have a current driver license with no violations over the past 5 years.
• Forklift certificate preferred, but not necessary.
• Must be able to speak, read and write in English proficiently.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays. Previous customer service experience preferred
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment testing including drug testing
• Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Airport and Custom badges/seals.
