Job Description

Thies & Talle Management, Inc., a leading property management company with nearly forty years of experience in the multi-housing industry, is hiring a part-time Caretaker (approximately 20 hours per week) for our apartment community in Hibbing, MN. Responsibilities include cleaning common areas, light yard maintenance, and cleaning of apartment turnovers. Some night and weekend hours are required. Must be reliable. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Summary

The Caretaker provides cleaning and minor maintenance of on-site buildings, maintains the lawn and surrounding property, and communicates effectively with residents and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Clean all common areas and leasing office.
  2. Clean vacant units and prepare them for new occupancy, including cleaning appliances, cabinets, and fixtures.
  3. Pick up trash and maintain a clean exterior environment.
  4. Perform snow and ice removal, including snowblowing, shoveling, and salting.
  5. Maintain parking areas.
  6. Notify supervisor of resident or safety issues.
  7. Interact positively with residents to maintain good relations.
Secondary Duties
  1. Complete paperwork such as service requests and timesheets accurately.
  2. Communicate with management regarding maintenance and tenant issues.
Job Requirements
  1. Some experience in housekeeping, caretaking, or janitorial work preferred.
  2. Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and safety information.
  3. Basic math skills.
  4. Ability to assess situations and make timely decisions.
  5. Self-motivated, able to work independently, detail-oriented, and reliable.
  6. Punctuality and attendance are essential, including availability evenings and weekends.
  7. Work outdoors and indoors, in various weather conditions, using cleaning and snow removal equipment.
  8. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and shoveling.
