Job summary

Avamere Skilled Advisors, LLC d/b/a Avamere Living is seeking a caring caregiver in Yakima, WA to support Memory Care and Assisted Living residents. The role emphasizes ADL assistance, emotional support, and safety in a residential setting.

You will participate in daily activities, monitor residents’ health, and document care in the EMR. A CPR/First Aid certification and a Food Handler's Card are required or obtainable during employment.

Qualifications

• Prefer experience as a Caregiver in a Memory Care Unit or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Experience with electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting).
• Provide mobility support and help with transfers and use of mobility aids.
• Assist with meal setup, food prep and tray removal as needed.
• Offer emotional support and companionship to residents to reduce loneliness.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, including housekeeping and laundry.
• Monitor health signs and report changes to medical staff; advocate for residents.
• Answer calls for assistance promptly and maintain resident confidentiality.

The caregiver's duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including assisting with activities of daily living, emotional support, housekeeping, and ensuring the resident's safety and well-being.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

• Personal Hygiene: Helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Mobility Assistance: Supporting residents with walking, transferring, and using mobility aids.
• Meal Preparation: Assisting with setting up meals, cutting up food if needed, and removing trays from rooms.

Emotional Support and Companionship

• Providing Emotional Support: Offering empathy, listening to residents, and providing encouragement.
• Companionship: Engaging in conversations, activities, and social interactions to combat loneliness and isolation.

Housekeeping

• Maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, cleaning, and tidying up.

Health Monitoring and Medical Advocacy

• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.

Other

• Answer resident calls for assistance timely.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Maintain a safe work environment. Report safety concerns in the resident apartments to the supervisor.
• Assists with the orientation of new residents and staff when assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• Prefer experience as a Caregiver in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
