# Caregiver- Resident Services Assistant FT## DescriptionCaregivers assists Residents with activities of daily living. This can include, but is not limited to, personal hygiene, doing laundry, accompanying Resident to appointments, and engaging Residents in activities.**Principal Duties and Responsibilities*** Assure Resident safety at all times.Willing to address each Resident by his/her preferred name as well as learn and abide by Residents’ Rights, rules and regulations.* Commitment to work well with other staff avoiding petty conflicts that disrupt a productive work environment. Does not participate in facility gossip and rumors.* Maintain confidentiality of all activities, persons, and records.* Work with professionals and general public tactfully.* Willing to comply with company policy and procedures at all times.* Assist Residents with activities of daily living as needed.* Ambulate and transfer Resident utilizing assistive devised and body mechanics.* Make beds and change linen per policy and as needed.* Wash and fold laundry as needed.* Assist and serve meals to Residents.* Keep Resident’s apartment clean, neat and personal belongings in orderly arrangement.* Communicate to Resident that you will summon appropriate personnel for needs you cannot address. Change T.V. channels, radio stations, etc. or anything that is not direct Resident care.* Routinely and consistently report pertinent information to Director of Nursing and/or Charge Nurse.* Encourage and motivate Resident to participate in activities.* Check Resident as assigned or directed to be sure their needs have been met.* Transport and remain with Residents to doctor’s appointment as directed.* Willing to remain alert to health safety standards by reporting expediently suspected unsafe conditions to his/her supervisor and responding according to policies and procedures during fire/disaster drills and emergencies.* Resident preferences are followed when providing care and service.* Maintain Resident privacy, values and right for decision making.* Immediately notify supervisor and Executive Director for any injury, illness, or if develop a condition, that might impact the aptitude to perform job functions.**Ancillary Duties and Responsibilities*** Perform duties in compliance with established policies and procedures.* Note changes in Resident’s condition and report immediately to charge nurse or Director of Nursing.* Accompany Residents outside facility as assigned.* Willing to attend in-service training and mandatory meetings as related to job.* Willingness to remain open to constructive feedback by receiving constructive criticisms/comments in a positive manner.* Provide setup/standby assistance for ADL activities.* Establishes and maintains positive rapport with all members of the healthcare team, Residents and all visitors.* Perform other duties as assigned by charge nurse, ADON, or DON.## Qualifications* Mental and physical capacity to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.* Sincere desire to work with elders and others who have a limited capacity for self-care.* Demonstrates pleasant and cheerful behavior.* Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule.* Maintain a well-groomed appearance and good hygiene at all times.* Follows verbal and written instructions.* Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information as necessary to perform job duties.
