Job summary

Trustwell Living, LLC in Dubuque, IA is seeking a dedicated Resident Services Aide to provide personal care, meals, housekeeping, laundry, and social activities, while maintaining dignity and privacy for Residents.

You will assist with ADLs, observe changes in status, and report to the Health Services Director. CPR/First Aid certification preferred; the role requires good communication, reliability, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with meals and cleanup

• Follow infection control procedures
• Keep environment clean, safe, and comfortable
• Observe issues in Resident units/building and report them
• Note changes in Resident status and communicate needs
• Observe safety and administrative rules
• Record Resident information as required
• Know and follow fire, life safety, disaster, security procedures
• Assist with individual and group social activities
• Notify nurse or designee of changes in status

REPORTS TO: HEALTH SERVICES DIRECTOR/DESIGNEE

Position Responsibilities

• Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Resident.
• Receives and gives report from the previous shift.
• Reviews assignments with Designated Supervisor.
• Reads the staff communication records and maintains familiarity with Resident records as required.
• Assists with orientation of new staff to job responsibilities.
• Assists with instrumental activities of daily living, ADL’s, environmental orientation, assistance with other care while encouraging self-care and independence.
• Assists with setting up, serving meals, and cleaning up afterwards.
• Provides services as indicated on Resident service plans, including but not limited to bathing assistance, toileting assistance, transfer, and mobility assistance.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
• Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors, including housekeeping services for Residents.
• Observes problems, concerns, and issues with Resident units, the building, and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
• Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately.
• Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately.
• Observes all work, safety, and administrative rules.
• Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
• Records Resident information as required..
• Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency situations.
• Assists with individual Resident and group social recreational activities.
• Notifies nurse, and/or designated agent(s) of Resident status/change as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability; able to communicate effectively.

• Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
• Ability/willingness to follow all policies and procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly.
• Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.

Training And Experience

18 – 24 months experience in a similar position, CPR/First Aid certified preferred.

Education

Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred. Attendance at mandatory in-service training. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
