Job summary

OPPO is hiring a part-time Caregiver (DSP) in Midvale, UT. You will work directly with individuals with disabilities, following individualized care plans to promote independence and community engagement.

You will provide supervision, support daily living activities, and participate in community experiences, ensuring safety and well-being for clients and colleagues. Training and a compassionate mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience caring for or supporting people with disabilities.
  • Ability to follow individualized care plans and document progress.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with the individuals you support.
  • Provide active supervision and meaningful engagement based on each client’s care plan.
  • Help clients develop social, physical, emotional, and independent-living skills.
  • Support activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, eating, and personal care.
  • Assist clients in activities, outings, appointments, and community experiences.
  • Recognize and communicate changes in a client’s needs or level of care.
  • Communicate clearly with Team Leads and the client care team.
  • Complete client documentation accurately and on time.
  • Complete required training and compliance requirements, including Huddles, SOAR, and CPR.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work for every shift.

What You’ll Do

As a DSP, you will:

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with the individuals you support.

  • Recognize and communicate changes in a client’s needs or level of care.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with Team Leads and other members of the client care team.
  • Complete required client documentation accurately and on time.
  • Complete required training and compliance requirements, including Huddles, SOAR, and CPR.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work for every scheduled shift.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude with clients, families, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Help create an environment where the safety, happiness, and health of both clients and employees come first.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

  • Experience caring for or supporting people with disabilities.
You’ll Also Need To
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Safely transport clients as part of your work.
  • Remain alert, attentive, and engaged throughout your shift.
  • Work effectively in active environments that may include large groups, high-energy situations, elopement risks, emotional escalation, aggression, or other challenging behaviors.
  • Work respectfully and collaboratively with the entire client care team.
Physical Requirements

This position may require:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely assisting with client transfers and using mechanical lifts when required.
  • Working in homes or environments where cats, dogs, or other pets may be present. Reasonable accommodation may be available for qualifying medical needs.
  • Safely assisting and supervising clients in a variety of home and community environments.
