Job Summary

We are hiring for a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (Regular). The role provides support for individuals and/or groups of persons with disabilities in the community as part of our waiver services, ensuring they can identify and communicate their requests and needs and implementing services to address their goals and desired outcomes.

Schedule: 2nd and 3rd shift.

Pay rate: $15.00 per hour. Sign‑On Bonus: $1,000.00.

Position Summary

As a Direct Support Professional, you will help people with intellectual, developmental, mental health, and substance use challenges achieve their goals and live their best lives. You will act as an advocate, teacher, cheerleader, shopping partner, role model, coach, and more—supporting clients in both their homes and the community.

Responsibilities

• Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents.
• Increase awareness of self‑advocacy and support individual choice and decision‑making.
• Accompany clients to work, the movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings.
• Teach independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments.
• Foster positive relationships within the community.
• Promote decision‑making about living, work, and social relationships.
• Assist with personal care, bathing, and home tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and decorating.
• Document the care you provide.
• Provide education on human, legal, and civil rights.
• Understand the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and use effective advocacy strategies.
• Connect clients with resources to explore career, education, and volunteer opportunities.
• Promote effective communication.
• Assist with medication administration where state law allows.
• Protect client confidentiality.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred in Tennessee).
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Conflict resolution skills.
• Some computer skills preferred.
• Decision‑making and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain good work attendance.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Pre‑employment screening: criminal background check, drug testing, education verification, and proof of employment history or references.
• For positions requiring driving, proof of driver’s license, insurance, and suitable vehicle.
