Job summary

Quail Park of West Seattle is seeking a dedicated Caregiver / Nursing Assistant to support residents with daily living activities in a warm, community-focused setting.

You will assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, meal assistance, and mobility while engaging residents in meaningful social interactions. A compassionate, respectful approach and reliable teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with elderly in residential or long-term care preferred
• Ability to take vital signs or learn
• Maintain CPR/First Aid credentials
• Maintain Food Handlers credentials
• Continuing Education credits annually
• Enjoy working with seniors
• Read/write/speak English to communicate with residents and staff
• Proficiency with basic computer skills (Word/Excel)

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, ambulation)
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and social activities
• Observe changes in residents and report to licensed nurse
• Complete incident reports and required documentation
• Assist with meals and dining room service
• Support daily housekeeping tasks as needed
• Assist with linen changes and laundry
• Assist with resident equipment maintenance (walkers, wheelchairs) and post-mortem care as required

Caregiver | Nursing Assistant | Resident Aide Minimum Requirements

• Previous experience working with the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting preferred but not required
• Ability to take blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, and O2 Sat or ability to learn
• Must maintain current CPR/First Aid credentials
• Must maintain current Food Handlers credentials
• Must maintain annual Continuing Education Credits
• Must enjoy working with seniors
• Ability to establish effective relationships with residents, family members and team members
• Must be able to read, comprehend, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors and other team members
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
• Must meet all health-related requirements pertaining to state licensure
• Subject to pre-employment screeningTB testing and criminal background check

Caregiver | Nursing Assistant | Resident Aide Essential Functions

• Reviews and understands all resident individual service plans
• Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and ambulation, as specified in residents’ individual service plans
• Engages residents in meaningful conversation and socialization while providing personal care assistance
• Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental and social condition, unusual symptoms, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse and/or supervisor
• Completes all forms to include but not limited to incident reports, and written and computerized documentation, as necessary for communication of resident information with other members of the Resident Care Team and with the licensed nurses, Executive Director
• Assists with resident meal times in dining room, serves meals in accordance with proper serving technique and ensures that food is presented in an attractive manner as needed
• Post Mortem care carried out by a Med Tech” for a resident who passes away in the community under hospice
• Makes resident beds, empties apartment trash, and tidies resident apartment daily and as needed or requested
• Turns down resident beds in the evening if requested
• Changes resident linens and towels according to community laundry schedule, and as needed or as requested
• Maintains resident clothing and closet in a neat and orderly manner
• Assists in cleaning walkers, wheelchairs, and other resident equipment, as needed
• Assists with other housekeeping duties as assigned
