Job summary

City of Lincoln in Sandpoint, Idaho, is seeking a dedicated caregiver to support residents with daily living activities in a supervised setting.

The role involves observing residents, following care plans, assisting with bathing, dressing, meals, and reporting changes to the Wellness team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with competitive base pay and required health-related certifications.

Qualifications

  • Must satisfy all state health, licensure/certification, and background requirements.
  • Education/Experience: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. At least 6 months of related work experience or training is preferred.
  • Certificates and Licenses: Must complete CPR and First Aid certifications if not current, plus any additional licensing requirements in state(s) of practice.
  • Communication Skills: Receive and carry out verbal or written instruction. Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via email with customers and co-workers.
  • Organization/Self-Management Skills: Perform repetitive work according to set procedures, with frequent distractions and interruptions. Must be able to recognize a problem and identify when it should be escalated to an appropriate team member.
  • Computer Skills: May require proficiency with computers to participate in training and/or other assigned tasks

Responsibilities

  • Reads and follows service plans, attends meetings, and reviews daily reports in the interest of resident care.
  • Assist residents with ADLs, such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, walking, transferring, and turning.
  • Applies minor first-aid measures as directed by a nurse.
  • Assists with meal service, prepares or examines food trays for prescribed diet, feeds residents, and records food intake as required.
  • Responds to resident inquiries and directs to the appropriate person as needed.
  • Responds promptly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Assists with Life Enrichment activities as needed.
  • Provides routine updates to Wellness team members and completes required recordkeeping tasks.
  • May assist with housekeeping duties and laundry.

Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Observes resident physical , mental, and emotional status and reports any changes.

Reads and follows service plans, attends meetings, and reviews daily reports in the interest of resident care.

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living, such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, walking, transferring, and turning.

Applies minor first-aid measures such as compresses, ice, and h eat as directed by a nurse .

Assists with meal service , prepar es or examin es food trays for prescribed diet , feeds residents , and records food intake when required .

Responds to resident inquiries and directs to the appropriate person as needed .

Responds promptly and appropriately to emergency situations .

Assists with Life Enrichment activities as needed.

Provides routine updates to other Wellness team members and completes required recordkeeping tasks .

May assist with housekeeping duties, including removing garbage, making beds, cleaning apartments, and washing, drying, and putting away laundry.

May obtain and record resident vital signs and weight.

May collect samples from residents for testing , such as sputum, urine, stool, and/or blood.

Practice basic infection control with linens, hand washing, and in all other aspects of delivery of resident care.

Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by Executive Director.

Maintain confidentiality of resident , community , employee , and company information.

Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.

Perform other duties as assigned .

Physical Demands

Constant l y stands and walks around the community, interacting with residents, coworkers, and others . Uses hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate supplies, controls, tools, and objects, and hands and arms to reach . Frequently communicates with others to exchange information in person, and over the phone, and m ust be capable of effective communication in these situations . Occasionally moves items weighing up to 25 pounds and may assist in transferring residents weighing more than 100 pounds . Frequently required to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl .

This position is most frequently situated inside of a climate-controlled assisted living community, with a low to moderate noise level . In certain circumstances, a staff member may be exposed to communicable diseases and infections, other biological hazards, and various drugs and chemicals. Due to these potential hazardous exposures, you may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in addition to universal precautions. PPE could include, but is not limited to, gloves, gowns, masks, respirators, and go g gles .
