Job summary

Eckerd Connects is seeking an Employment Guidance Specialist to support the Turner Job Corps Center in Albany, GA. You will manage career transition services, help students with job searches, and ensure successful placements and re-engagement when needed.

The role involves conducting interviews, maintaining caseloads, and coordinating with military services, One Stops, and other resources to secure opportunities for participants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field
• Associates degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field and two years related experience
• Prefer Job Corps experience
• Valid driver's license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record preferred
• Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of career transition, job search skills, placement issues, Job Corps Career Transition Services and requirements.
• Secure placement data for assignees and identify assignees who are no longer employed or in school and ensure reconnection with another placement, school, or military within the service window.
• Conduct interviews with students preparing to exit the center; provide re-orientation and focus on job search techniques.
• Create and maintain a caseload of active assignee files; establish a tickler system for caseload management; maintain bi-weekly or monthly contact through telephone and/or in person; document all actions in case notes.
• Visit classrooms and trade shops to familiarize students with placement processes, employability skills, career preparation, job search, job retention, etc.
• Maintain linkages with military services, One Stops and other external resources; maintain job banks; secure and post job leads; set up job interviews; arrange transportation assistance and other support services.
