Job summary

Eckerd Connects is seeking a qualified Employment Guidance Specialist to oversee career transition services, job search coaching, and placement activities within the Job Corps program in Denison, IA.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Associate's degree with related experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Equal opportunity employer; safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field (or Associates with two years related experience).
  • Prefer Job Corps experience.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of career transition, job search skills, placement issues, job retention and Career Transition Services.
  • Secure placement data for assignees and identify those no longer employed or in school; reconnect with next placement, school, or military.
  • Conduct interviews with students preparing to exit the center and provide reorientation and job search coaching.
  • Maintain caseloads with regular contact and document actions in case notes.
  • Visit classrooms and shops to explain placement processes, employability skills, and opportunities; advise on military, school and job options.

Salary Range: $40,000 - $46,000
Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Employment Guidance Specialist is responsible all aspects of career transition, job search skills, job placement issues, job retention and Job Corps Career Transition Services and requirements.
  • The Employment Guidance Specialist is responsible for securing placement data for assignees and identifying assignees who are no longer employed or in school and ensure reconnection with another placement, school, or military within the service window.
  • Conducts interviews with students preparing to exit the center. Provides re- orientation and further focuses on job search techniques.
  • Creates and maintains a caseload of active assignee files, establishing a tickler system for caseload management. Maintains bi-weekly or monthly contact through telephone and/or in person and documents all actions in case notes.
  • Visits classrooms and trade shops to familiarize students with the placement processes, employability skills, career preparation, job search, job retention, etc. Familiarizes students with military, school and job opportunities and offers.
  • Maintains linkages with military services, One Stops and other external resources; maintains job banks; secures and posts job leads; sets up job interviews; arranges transportation assistance and other support services.
  • Complete appeals process and verifies placements to reconcile any errors in 6/12- month surveys.
Qualifications
