Job summary

United Cooperative Services has an open position for an Apprentice Lineman I for our Burleson Operations Department. This non-exempt role starts at $29.21 per hour and includes a robust benefit package. Candidate must have a valid Class A CDL with an acceptable MVR and a pre-employment physical and drug screen are required.

Lineman school program completion is strongly preferred. Assists line crews in construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines,

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
• Must possess valid Texas class A CDL with acceptable MVR.
• Pre-employment physical and drug screen required.
• Lineman school program preferred due to foundational knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists line crews in construction, maintenance and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines.
• Operates vehicles, performs groundwork, adheres to safety policies and procedures.
• Sets anchors, lines and frames poles per REA qualifications.
• Loads and unloads poles, transformers and other items.
• Checks material in and out of warehouse and helps maintain tools and equipment.
• Assists in building line and facilities and accounts for materials used.
• Trims with pruning sticks and cuts trees as required.
• Connects service to meter pole or building and reads meters when required.
• Sets and removes meter loops, transformers, switches, regulators and other electrical devices.
• Observes hazards and adheres to safety standards; uses protective equipment.
• Supports safety culture and follows United policies.
