City of College Station Utilities is seeking an entry-level Lineman to perform skilled line work on overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems under general supervision.
This role requires physical fitness, the ability to climb up to 90 feet, and stamina to work in varied weather. A Texas Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days, plus residence within 40 minutes of the Utility Service Center, are required.
Under general supervision of the Foreman the Lineman performs skilled line work in the operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems for College Station Utilities in accordance with departmental procedures, processes, and established safety protocols.
Duties require sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform assigned installation and maintenance duties as well as sufficient strength and stamina to climb, work at heights up to 90’, and lift and use equipment within utility safety standards.
This is the entry level class for this skilled electrical trade. Incumbents work under close supervision learning and performing aspects of the trade and learning how to work with energized high voltage distribution or transmission line voltages, while assisting Journeyman Lineman with the construction, maintenance, and repairs on the electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission system. This class is distinguished from the Journeyman Lineman in that the latter is competent to perform the full range of skilled duties.
