Job summary

Joliet Junior College seeks a Student Employee, Career Services to join the Career Services team. The role supports day-to-day office operations, welcomes students and visitors, and assists with communications and outreach.

The position provides hands-on experience in career services, event support, and data gathering for monthly and annual reports while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Hours align with class schedules; up to 20 hours per week during the fall/spring and up to 28

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and in good academic standing at JJC.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, problem‑solving skills, and initiative.
• Professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to professionally interact with a diverse population, including all internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Greet students, staff, faculty, and visitors to the Career Services Office.
• Refer students to other support services as needed.
• Answer phones and relay messages.
• Schedule student appointments.
• Create promotional materials for Career Services.
• Provide front desk coverage during staff breaks and absences.
• Assist with events and mailings.
• Support staff in preparing materials and updating PowerPoint.
• Coordinate with staff on reports and data collection.
