Employment Type: Temporary position, non-tenure track position (Grant-Funded)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Anticipated Start Date: November 2026

Work Location: CT State Norwalk (188 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06854)

Work Modality: On site; Position is not remote

Position Summary

CT State Community College system offers two-year liberal arts degree programs in an open enrollment environment and also offers a broad range of career, occupational and technical certificate programs in order to meet the varied learning needs of the populations served. These programs emphasize the linkage between academic studies and practical career application.

The Career Readiness Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Career Services in developing career-related job opportunities among area employers for the students of a Community College. The Coordinator also assists in development, administration and marketing of programs which integrate students’ academic studies with practical work experience in their career fields. These programs may encompass such areas as cooperative education, career services, and special grant-funded programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Cooperative Education or Career Services or other administrator, the Career Readiness Coordinator is accountable for promoting and obtaining the participation of employers in programs for placement of the College’s students in career-related internships and jobs to provide students with experience and permanent employment through effective performance in these essential duties:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Development of employment opportunities
  • Marketing the College’s career programs to employers, students, and faculty
  • Guiding students on career-related employment and skill-building

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriately relevant field with two (2) or more years of experience applying those disciplines in a field related to career development, placement, education administration, or business; or a combination of education, training and experience that would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties

  • Job placement or recruiting
  • Career advising or counseling
  • Experience in a college/university setting
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two(2) or more years of experience developing new business opportunities and building and maintaining employer relationships.
  • Experience with career services and recruiting software platforms (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity, 12twenty, or similar platforms).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing marketing, outreach, and social media strategies.
  • Two(2) or more years of experience managing internship, cooperative education, or other experiential learning programs.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary $63,585 approximate annual
  • This Grant Funded position has the potential of renew annually.

Selection Process

After the closing date, applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Candidates selected for further consideration will be those who best meet the minimum and preferred qualifications and who submitted all required materials by the deadline.

The selection process may include interviews and practical exercises (e.g., written, technical, or simulation exercises). Finalists will be recommended to the Hiring Manager for final selection.
