Workforce Connections, Inc. is seeking a Career Planner/Job Developer in La Crosse, WI.

The role combines individualized career planning with employer engagement to help people obtain meaningful, sustainable employment. You will identify strengths, address barriers, develop employment goals, and connect participants with education, training, and job opportunities while building relationships with local employers and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, education, business, workforce development, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in case management, employment services, workforce development, business engagement, recruiting, human services, or a related area preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while developing collaborative partnerships with employers, participants, and community organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide participant intake, eligibility determination, case management, and employment planning services.
  • Assess participant strengths, barriers, goals, skills, and workplace readiness.
  • Develop individualized employment and service plans and provide ongoing coaching and support.
  • Assist participants with job searches, résumés, applications, interview preparation, and connections to employment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, business organizations, educational institutions, chambers of commerce, and community partners.
  • Match participants with employment, work experience, apprenticeship, training, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Connect participants with supportive services and community resources that promote successful employment and retention.
  • Promote WCI programs and services through employer and community outreach.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, monitor progress and employment outcomes, and ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Manage an assigned caseload while collaborating with participants, employers, workforce partners, and coworkers to support participant success.

Position Summary

The Career Planner/Job Developer combines individualized career planning with employer engagement to help people move toward meaningful, sustainable employment.

This position works directly with participants to identify strengths, address barriers, develop employment goals, and connect them with employment, education, training, and supportive services. At the same time, the Career Planner/Job Developer builds relationships with employers and community partners to identify job opportunities, work experiences, apprenticeships, training opportunities, and other pathways to employment.

  • Reports To: Operations Manager
  • Classification: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
  • Work Location: Assigned WCI work location or approved work arrangement. Regular travel throughout the region may be required.
  • Compensation: $49,920–$59,259 annually ($24.00–$28.49/hour), depending on qualifications and experience, in accordance with WCI's Board-approved Pay Plan.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, education, business, workforce development, marketing, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in case management, employment services, workforce development, business engagement, recruiting, human services, or a related area preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while developing collaborative partnerships with employers, participants, and community organizations.
Technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn program-specific software applications.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and travel as needed to perform the essential functions of the position.
