POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently recruiting a Career Planner. This full-time, on-site position pays $22/hr an hour and is located in Decorah, IA 52101

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Connect job seekers with available positions that result in employment.
  • Assist businesses with recruiting qualified applicants for open positions.
  • Interview customers to assess employment-related service needs.
  • Assist customers in developing, evaluating, initiating, and implementing plans to improve employment skills and employability.
  • Identify barriers to employment and refer job seekers to appropriate community resources and supportive services.
  • Provide career advisement through the development of Individual Employment Plans, job referrals, training and education program referrals, job placement, and advancement services.
  • Implement prescribed program procedures and maintain accurate case-management records.
  • Provide ongoing case management and serve as a liaison between customers and service providers.
  • Document all customer interactions through clear, complete, and timely case notes.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of labor-market research tools, local industry sectors, and workforce trends to guide job seekers toward appropriate employment, training, or education opportunities.
  • Ensure case files meet or exceed all programmatic, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver valuable, timely, and professional services to job seekers and employers.
  • Use strong Customer Service behaviors in all interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Prepare routine reports and enter accurate information into required computerized systems.
  • Maintain customer files in compliance with applicable program guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
  • Work overtime or adjusted schedules as business requirements dictate.

  • Ability to enter, review, and maintain accurate data in computerized case-management systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and files in accordance with program requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated learning orientation, technical capacity, and recruiting experience.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Resources, Communications, Business, or a related field required; equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in staffing, recruiting, workforce development, employment services, or a related field required.
  • At least one year of experience using computer systems for data entry and data review required.
  • Previous workforce-development and/or case-management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in customer service, verbal and written communication, and computer skills required.
License/Certification:
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must maintain adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with job seekers, employers, service providers, and internal staff.
  • Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, evening, weekend, overtime, and schedule adjustments may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
