Job summary

Community College of Philadelphia, through CCME, seeks a Manager of Career and Employment Pathways to design and implement a comprehensive job development and placement strategy for CCME students. You’ll oversee work-based learning staff, internships, and job shadowing while cultivating relationships with City agencies, Philadelphia Works, and employers to expand opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in higher education, workforce, or social service organization with direct job development or job placement.
  • Experience in case management.
  • Experience supervising direct reports.
  • Experience with job placement, career readiness and success training and employer partnership building.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program placement goals.
  • Ability to use data to inform decisions and develop strategies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an emphasis on details, planning, and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be a resourceful and goal‑oriented self‑starter with strong attention to follow through.
  • Must be able to travel via use of public transportation OR have a valid driver’s license, access to a properly insured vehicle and the ability to drive to multiple sites within the local area.
  • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff and students required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive job development and placement strategy for CCME students.
  • Serve as CCME’s primary contact and liaison to the City’s CCME's Sr. HR Associate, the City’s Office of Human Resources (OHR) and its hiring departments, Philadelphia Works, and additional industry‑aligned employers in the development of employment opportunities corresponding to CCME’s municipal training pathways.
  • In collaboration with CCME's Director, design and oversee the employment transition component of CCME including a comprehensive career development plan.
  • Design, implement, and manage CCME’s work‑based learning (WBL) component and staff, including internships and job shadowing opportunities.
  • Manage databases and tracking systems of employer contacts and job development and placement activities of students to meet CCME placement goals and evaluate placement process effectiveness.
  • Provide CCME students with information about municipal and external employer job vacancies, career paths, and other employment‑related topics.
  • Develop job descriptions and specifications in collaboration with City’s OHR, City hiring managers, and other employers, where applicable.
  • Negotiate job terms and conditions with employers on behalf of CCME students, where applicable.
  • Monitor and follow up with City’s OHR, City hiring managers, other employers, and CCME students after placement.
  • Work with CCME staff and other College staff to share feedback from employer partners, ensuring course modules are inclusive of all needed content for success in career pathways.
  • Provide job assessment, job readiness, and coaching/training to CCME students in one‑on‑one and group session formats.
  • Coordinate municipal and other employment job fairs, employer panels, and targeted recruitment events in partnership with the City’s OHR, Philadelphia Works, the College’s Career Connections office, and other relevant internal departments.
  • Research and keep informed of local and regional employment trends and best practices in job development and workforce training.
  • Provide timely reporting on success outcomes (job placements, paid internships, continuing education, etc.) to the city of Philadelphia regularly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
