Job summary

Franklin Public Schools is seeking a Career Pathways Counselor at Franklin High School to lead career exploration and planning initiatives for students. The role involves coordinating ICP and Senior Project activities, delivering workshops, and collaborating with counselors, teachers, and local employers to provide real-world opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Massachusetts DESE licensure required.
• Experience in a secondary school setting preferred.
• Experience collaborating with post-secondary institutions, training programs, and local businesses.
• Familiarity with Naviance and MyCAP is helpful.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work with students, families, educators, and external partners.
• Must pass CORI and CHRI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Guide students in exploring career interests and options aligned with strengths and goals.
• Lead workshops on job search strategies, resumes, interviews, and professional communication.
• Maintain information on career exploration and local job/internship postings.
• Develop career planning activities and support post-secondary planning, including college/workforce pathways.
• Organize guest speakers, panels, and career talks with diverse professionals.
• Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and local employers for hands-on learning.
• Assist students in finding part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities.
• Use Naviance/MyCAP to plan and track career options and plans.
• Support MA MyCAP initiatives and Early Enrollment/Dual Enrollment programs.
• Assist with assessments and data collection as needed.
• Develop and teach career exploration/prep courses as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the principal.
