Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Advising and Retention in the Division of Student Services, the Career Navigator supports student enrollment, success, and workforce preparation by coordinating the Learn and Earn program, developing and delivering career readiness trainings and workshops, connecting students with internships, employment, and work-based learning opportunities, and building strong partnerships with employers and community organizations. The position helps attract and engage students by promoting career pathways and workforce opportunities, works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners to strengthen career connections, and supports students in developing the professional skills and experiences needed to become career ready, persist through completion, and successfully transition from college into the workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Career Exploration & Preparation

• Provide individualized career exploration and planning support, including skills assessments, program exploration, and tools such as the WOWI assessment.
• Help students identify career interests, academic pathways, internships, and employment opportunities aligned with their goals.
• Organize career readiness trainings, workshops, and other opportunities that build durable skills and prepare students for employment and advancement.
• Provide guidance and support to ensure students are prepared for Learn and Earn, internships, employment, and other career opportunities.
• Support students in identifying barriers to educational and career success and connect them with appropriate campus resources.

Learn & Earn & Employer Partnerships

• Manage the student Learn and Earn program, including opportunity matching, site coordination, student support, and follow-through.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Learn and Earn employers and develop new employer partnerships and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers and program coordinators to create marketable career pathways and employment opportunities for graduates.
• Coordinate internship and experiential learning opportunities that connect classroom learning with workforce experience.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to identify opportunities to strengthen career-connected learning and employment outcomes.

Student Success, Retention & Pathways

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive tracking and support system to promote student engagement, retention, persistence, and academic success.
• Collaborate with Student Services staff to identify and support retention efforts, particularly for special populations.
• Identify areas contributing to student melt and develop strategies to improve student engagement and persistence.
• Coordinate transfer support services and pathways to four-year institutions, including student tracking, transfer guidance, and individualized assistance.
• Collect, enter, and analyze data to monitor student participation, outcomes, retention, and career/transfer success.
• Serve as an active team member within the Division of Student Services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, student services, business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in higher education preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage detailed records, interpret policies, and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, student information systems/databases, and other technology.
• Travel will be required. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
