California Academic & Research Libraries at Menlo College, Atherton (Bowman Library), seeks a Career Development Librarian to strengthen student academic, retention, and career skills through workshops, digital resources, and individual appointments.

The role is 12 months, full-time and exempt, on-site with a $90,000 salary, funded by a SIP grant. Initial review date is 10/30/26; continued funding depends on federal support beyond year one.

Qualifications

• MLS from an ALA-accredited program.
• Teaching experience with instructional design.
• Experience developing digital learning objects (videos, modules, surveys).
• Strong customer service and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of student career development, retention, and success.
• Familiarity with library organization and management.

Responsibilities

• Designs and delivers workshops to strengthen information literacy, AI literacy, digital literacy, critical thinking, financial literacy, career exploration, and collaboration with departments.
• Supports student research skills through 1:1 appointments, front desk help, and research assistance via chat, email, and phone.
• Works with the Student Success Librarian to support and expand the Information Literacy Program.
• Collaborates with Career Services, Academic Support, faculty, and other departments to ensure high-quality student support.
• Creates engaging digital learning objects and content for the library website.
• Selects books and materials to support essential skill and knowledge development.
• Assesses student outcomes and library services under the SIP grant.
