Job summary

Family Centers in Stamford, CT is seeking a Career Counselor for the Reaching Independence Through Employment (RITE) program to help community members build career readiness, digital and financial capability, and connect to employment opportunities.

The role delivers individualized career coaching, employment planning, and education, coordinating resources and services to support self-sufficiency for participants. A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of related experience in workforce development, career services, human services, or related area.
• Demonstrated excellent casework and presentation skills, ability to collaborate and network, knowledge of local social service systems and resources.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, work with diverse backgrounds, adapt to changing needs, promote public relations, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Meet with participants to identify strengths, employment goals, and barriers; develop individualized employment plans.
• Support job-search activities, including resumes, applications, interviewing, job-search strategies, workplace skills, and job retention.
• Deliver or coordinate employment-readiness, digital literacy, and financial capability education based on participant needs.
• Connect participants with employment, education, training, credentials, and community resources that support self-sufficiency.
• Maintain timely and accurate participant records, document services and progress, and contribute to required program reporting.
• Follow up with participants to monitor progress, support employment retention, and help address challenges as they arise.
