Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a dedicated career services specialist to provide program-specific career exploration support, including prior learning assessment, resume and cover letter development, and job placement assistance for graduates and apprentices.

You will collaborate with faculty across campuses, develop career readiness curricula for related industries, coordinate apprenticeship opportunities, and foster strong local employer partnerships to ensure timely placement of graduates'

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or relevant work experience.
• Two (2) years of experience and/or training in vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, or related employment services.
• Knowledge of Google Workspace and AI tools including Google Gemini.
• Knowledge of using workforce databases to research and obtain industry and employment information.
• Ability to identify student challenges and communicate effectively with students.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology systems, especially AI.
• Commitment to equity and supporting all students to access high-quality education.
• Resident of Colorado with the ability to live and work there.

Responsibilities

• Critiques and edits student and graduate resumes, cover letters, and other employment documents and advises on workplace etiquette, dress, and interviewing.
• Evaluates and approves student prior learning assessments and identifies opportunities to grant credit for prior learning and experience.
• Maintains relationships with prospective apprentices and relays apprenticeship information.
• Develops and carries out career readiness curriculum for related industries and apprenticeships.
• Coordinates with staff to hold career exploration events and inform prospective students of career pathways.
• Keeps abreast of employment trends and maintains essential business relationships to ensure placement of graduates.
• Participates in academic department meetings with leadership and instructors.
• Collects and shares apprenticeship data with state and federal agencies.
